I had reservations about the cups and silverware taking up storage space inside the Picnic Basket, but I am pleasantly surprised with the amount of storage room within the main insulated compartment let alone the top being able to "pop up" to increase the storage space.

Having used this multiple times, I can say it does pretty well holding things cold (with an ice pack) even in the desert. And the butter knives are sharp enough to cut steak!

I have not used it enough to say it "is a must buy" but I would happily buy it again and would suggest you do the same. We have a picnic backpack that is easier to carry for a long hike on a cool day, but if the distance is less than a mile...I would happily carry this picnic basket and not use the picnic backpack any day.

I have one minor annoyance with the picnic basket; the storage for the silverware is just the right tightness to allow them to not come loose or damage each other...but that makes it slightly difficult to put them back in after they are cleaned.
