I have had this product for the last few years. The only way to turn the propane on or off is to go behind the grill. On a deck, after it's been cooking a while, that's a proposition you need to be careful with. More importantly, I just tried to use the rotisserie propane burner I originally bought with the grill. You have to disassemble and remove the control panel and the control valve. You have to take out all the grates and ceramic discs in order to get at the bolts that hold the control panel on. Then you have to install a new control valve and control panel (which doesn't work with the electric start) to use the rotisserie. Of course, if you're going to use the grill at any time after that, you have to disassemble the rotisserie set up and put it back to the way it was. It's about 20-30 minutes for each event. This is shining example of thoughtless and lazy engineering. I originally went for this grill because it's made in America, but it's just got so many flaws that next time I buy a grill the fact that it's made in China just won't matter.

Figures that Music City (Nashville) would know it's barbeque tools. I have been trying to keep my cruddy gas grill going (especially since the newer models aren't cast iron bodies) and going through grates one per season.

This is the real deal. i think this grate is nicer than my grill. They have lots of sizes, a good chart for picking out which one will work (actual measurements, vs nominal ones) and a truly heavy duty product.

Now if they only made burners, I'd be golden. Ooooh, they do!

Music City Metals 63184 Matte Cast Iron Cooking Grid Replacement for Gas Grill Models Outdoor Gourmet SRGG51103 and SRGG51103A, Set of 4 Review

Make sure you understand that this is a cast iron grill grate. It is unfinished and unseasoned just like a cast iron skillet. I have some seasoning hints below. The grates seem to be above average in construction and are heavy, flat, and nearly exact to the stated dimensions.

They perform just like a cast iron skillet which means they take awhile to get hot but provide an evenly heated surface. With proper sesoning they take an a nonstick surface. But very high heat will burn off the seasoning and reseasonong will be needed. Cleaning is not as easy as with chrome since you should avoid metal brushes and scrappers so as to not scrap off the seasoning. I use a nylon brush and water while the grill is hot. It works great.

Seasoning is the key to great performance. Wash and thouroughly scrub the greats in warm soapy water. Rinse ALL the soap off and dry. Wipe with a thin layer of Crisco and bake in your grill for an hour at about 350. After that I statrted using the grill. For the first 5 uses I melted some Crisco and wiped the grates prior to heating and then after cleaning I wiped them again. This has quicklt built up a noce base of seasoning.

With proper care I expect these will outlast me. Very pleased.
