Weber 1810001 Summit S-420 Natural Gas Grill, Stainless Steel Review

I replaced a grill that had cast iron everything. It would take 20 minutes or longer to get the grill to 400 degrees. This new Weber takes only about 5 minutes to hit 500 degrees. I love the 4 burner front to back design. It is a design that gets me back to the days of indirect heat cooking I got from my Weber charcoal grill. I have cooked steak, burgers, chicken and a Wisconsin favorite brats. This is the first time I have a side burner on a grill. I've used it to heat a few things and appreciate it.

I live in an area that has a constant breeze that was always a problem for other grills. The wind would get into the grill between the base and the cover and mess with the flame and cool the food. This grill has an inner cover that connects to the base and blocks the wind. This makes for very even temperature.

I was told this grill is manufactured in China and I was a little nervious about the quality of it. As far as I can tell, it is very well made and all the stainless is very thick. I looked at a couple other stainless steel grills and there is a noticable difference. Even the lower line of Webers have thinner metal.

The grill comes preassembled except for the two side tables. Two screws each and the grill was pretty much done. The grates and flavor bars had to be put into place. I was preheating in no time.

These salt and pepper shakers are pretty much what I expected, plastic shakers to put outside that you can drop and get dirty and not worry about it. For the price, the build quality meets or maybe even exceeds what I would expect.

The holes are way too big though. I never understand how companies screw up the size of holes on these shakers. They have one feature they really need to check before they package it and that is the ability to shake salt or pepper out without releasing too much or too little.

Too much you say? Make the holes smaller!

Too little? Make them larger.

Did they even run salt or pepper through these? A LOT comes out. Much more than this salt lover would ever use.

Nexgrill 720-0744A 5 Burner Party Grill with 1-Piece Cooking Griddle and PDC Bottom Plate Cover Review

This grill cooks hot dogs, sausages, hamburgers, and skirt steak wonderfully. It's fast and I can get hot food to my guests really quickly (and be able to sit down and join them while the food's still hot, which is a nice change). Main thing to remember for this grill is that it's for direct heat cooking (no lid). I had a little trouble with the first whole chicken I tried to cook. But figured out that this grill isnt meant to cook whole chickens. But if I use either boneless chicken, or chicken pieces(legs, thighs, wings) it turns out juicy and nicely caremlized when I add bbq sauce at the last 10 mins or so. Also did ribs by wrapping the entire rack of ribs in foil with just salt and pepper for seasoning over medium heat, turning it every 30 mins for about 1.5 - 2 hrs. Then removing the foil, turn burners on high and basting with BBQ sauce, flipping it every few minutes until it gets a nice coating (about 3 brushings of sauce on each side). Yummy!

This grill is really nothing more than the charcoal pan from the more expensive Brinkman "Gourmet" smoker. The gourmet smoker can grill or smoke, and I've used this numerous times to grill. We find it to be just large enough to grill for our family of 4. The coal pan is pretty heavy gauge metal. The outer pan with the feet is thinner, but doesn't get too hot. You may want to consider buying the Gourmet instead. If you buy it at a home center, for about 1/3 more in price, you get a whole smoker. Either way, it's rugged, and small enough to take anywhere.

Broil King 987744 Sovereign 90 Liquid Propane Gas Grill with Side Burner and Rear Rotisserie Review

We bought this grill because of the good reviews and the price/features/quality. The grill is made in Canada and manufactured by the same company that owns Weber. We were tired of the Chinese made grills that burn through after a few years. Amazon had this on special with no tax and free shipping, great deal. However, when the grill arrived there was some shipping damage. The box weighs in at 150 LBS and is not palettized and shipped UPS. This is not good for such a large heavy box. The damage was minor and I just received the replacements from Broil King. Their CS was very good. The grill itself is nicely made with great control of the flame level via smoothe operating controls. The heat appears to be very even across the entire cooking surface.All the interior parts in the firebox are SS and the box itself is cast aluminum, nothing to rust out. The SS cooking grates are just awesome, very very heavy. I seasoned the grill per instructions by running it at MED/HIGH for 20 minutes. I went out outside after 15 minutes and the temp gauge was pinned at over 700 DEG. Wow this thing can put out some BTUS! You can easily singe your steaks if you want to. The rotisere along with the seperate rear burner are great. However it requires you light it with a match not the ignitor. The side burner is large enough for a fairly large pot. The instructions are all exploded views and no written instructions. Can be frustating if you are not handy. All the major components like the gas lines and ignitors are already assembled, so this fact makes it easier. All in all great grill for the money.
