I needed a pair of tongs and I have several of the other Bodum grilling tools (all great!!) so I ordered these. I'm somewhat disappointed in their functionality as they barely open. The neutral (unsqueezed) position is about 3/4 to half an inch open, and then you can squeeze them all the way shut from there. But they do not open any wider, which makes them kind of useless for a lot of applications.
